Susana’s approval rating at 60%; Senate race still a toss-up
Print This Post
Some 15 months into her term, Republican Gov. Susana Martinez still has a high poll numbers — especially considering that New Mexico has more registered Democrats than Republicans — although there has been some slight slippage in recent weeks.
In a survey of 500 likely voters in the state conducted by the national polling firm Rasmussen Reports, Martinez has an overall favorable rating of 60 percent and an unfavorable rating of 36 percent. Here are the numbers from the survey that was conducted Tuesday (April 3):
|
36% Strongly approve
|
|
24% Somewhat approve
|
|
18% Somewhat disapprove
|
|
18% Strongly disapprove
|
|
4% Not sure

Back on Feb. 22 Rasmussen numbers had Martinez with a 66 percent overall favorability rating. Here were the numbers for the govenor then:
| Strongly approve | 33% |
| Somewhat approve | 33% |
| Somewhat disapprove | 12% |
| Strongly disapprove | 21% |
| Not sure | 2% |
The Rasmussen numbers roughly mirror the results of a similar poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, which is associated with the national Democratic Party. Back in December, PPP came back with numbers showing Martinez holding a favorability rating of 50 percent, with 39 percent unfavorable and 11 percent not sure.
The April 3 Rasmussen poll also looked at the race for the US Senate seat that will be vacated by the retiring Jeff Bingaman and showed that it’s still neck and neck between Republican frontrunner Heather Wilson and the two Democrats fighting in the party primary — Martin Heinrich and Hector Balderas:

The Rasmussen numbers have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percent and a 95 percent confidence level.
Unfortunately, the Rasmussen folks didn’t ask likely voters whether they prefer Heinrich or Balderas in the June 5 primary. Rasmussen also did not ask about Wilson’s primary opponent, Greg Sowards.
But Rasmussen did ask a couple other questions about New Mexico voters and their feelings about the economy:

We need more exposure of the corrupt Richardson/King mafia. The Honorable Martinez has more than enough evidence to do so. She is not a flash in the pan, all of you corrupt leaches had better go to a more tolerant state before you get exposed and arrested too.

Response to Cole;
Probation & Parole is the only profession where failure is rewarded by promotion. Fail your clients and return them to jail/prison for menial violations and you get a star on your personnel file…………………if it wasn’t for these guys/gals your department wouldnt exist! Did you fail the police psych tesr?
7:16 pm on April 9th, 2012
No I didnt fail the psy test but I do know kris dole did. Wake up you dip stick and realize the dept of probation parole is run by noneducated people making 98000 per year who hides behind her news anchor husband on channel 13. Whats a matter with you? Do you support corruption and people getting beat up at fake defensive tactics programs taught by people whom were fired from the federal sect? Your to transparent joe barela go back to tomasitas with

To Cole, i don’t think Max is against you. He does mention in his post that the department of probation parole is the only department that awards failure with promotion. ” I couldn’t agree with Max any better.”
