Bill Richardson to Headline Democratic National Convention Energy Policy Forum

As his own Solar Valley vision collapses in New Mexico, former Governor Richardson has announced on his website that he will lead the energy forum at the Democratic National Party’s convention. On Spetember 5, 2012, in Charlotte, North Carolina Richardson will headline a luncheon forum hosted by Politico focusing on energy’s role “in the 2012 election and in the coming years.” New Mexico Watchdog has contacted Politico to learn how Richardson was selected despite his record in New Mexico where almost all of the solar ventures he backed with public funds have collapsed or failed to get off the ground. Most recently, it was revealed by KOB-TV news that Richardson’s administration declined clawback provisions in the extension of $16million in public funding to the failed Schott Solar. Schott now joins the graveyard of the other companies in Richardson’s “Solar Valley.” Unlike local governments that supported Schott with clawback provisions included, the State of New Mexico will lose its $16 million dollar investment.
