New Mexico Watchdog wishes to thank Adrian Velarde, director of operations for KRWG-TV, New Mexico State’s PBS affiliate.  We had been having a difficult time getting a simple answer to questions about the salaries of staff at the television station.  In a previous blog post we scolded NMSU for lacking a Sunshine Portal.  We had been told that to obtain information easily obtained from the other PBS affiliates in New Mexico we would have to travel to NMSU’s library and search out certain volumes of records in the stacks.

Mr. Velarde had been understanding in our conversations with him.  While he would have liked to have responded directly to us, he felt that the chain of command within the university required him to defer to the Human Resources department.  But now we have received from the same administration that had directed us to a search of library stacks  a spread sheet setting out the annual salaries and hourly rate of pay of the station’s employees.  It came to us, we were told, at the request of Mr. Velarde.  Thank you, Mr. Velarde.
