Rio Rancho’s Acting City Manager is paid more than his counterpart in Albuquerque city government, even though Albuquerque is considerably larger in terms of budget and municipal workforce. Rio Rancho also pays its manager more than Bernalillo County.

At $150,000 annual salary, acting Rio Rancho City Manager, James Babin, makes slightly less than his predecessor, James Jimenez, who pulled down around $151,507.  Jimenez resigned in July after nearly four years of service, and was sent off with a $144,000 severance payment, equal to about nine months of his income.

In comparison, Albuquerque’s chief administrative officer makes just under $144,000 annually.  Bernalillo County pays its county manager $148,000.  Both those salaries are less than what was paid to the previous holders of those job titles.
