Fouratt: New U.S. Attorney by February or March 2010
Print This Post
In an often electrifying speech to the Albuquerque Economic Forum, Greg Fouratt, the U.S. Attorney for New Mexico, ranged from discussing national security, narco-terrorism in Mexico, and the Department of Justice’s “campaign against public corruption” in New Mexico. In response to our question, he disclosed that the state can expect to see his replacement “by February or March” of next year.
Fouratt said the vetting process is already underway, signifying that a choice has been made. As to who that person may be, Fouratt said, “I think you will be very pleased with the person who succeeds me. I know I am.”
Fouratt also pledged that the “campaign against public corruption in New Mexico will not end until we are assured it is no longer a part of the state’s landscape.” He made that statement not as a personal pledge, but as a statement of policy commitment by the Department of Justice and federal law enforcement.
I will have an expanded post on Fouratt’s impressive presentation later today.
